Seth (& us) are liking our new Life Group!

On the way to Life Group today Seth told us "I like Life Group. The kids go upstairs, and there's fish!" (They family that hosts us has an awesome salt-water fish tank that he's in love with. It's got a "Nemo" fish and a "Dori" fish, along with a shrimp - it's really cool.) I was so happy to hear that he enjoys going - especially since we'd only been one time before today. I don't know what the kids do upstairs, but it must be fun!

One thing that we talked about today that I thought was especially interesting and gave me a different view. We were talking about prayer and how we often forget to take the things in our lives that we stress about to God. We talk to our spouses, our parents, our friends, but still forget (or neglect) to take them to God.

Someone pointed out that we should consider it from a different angle. As parents, we would be hurt if our children were going through something that was causing them stress or grief and they didn't come to us. Even if we couldn't provide relief from their troubles, we would want them to come to us, to trust us with their burdens, to help them with the load even if it was just to comfort them in a moment of trouble. But we forget that God is even more so a loving Father who wants us to include him in our lives, that he wants to be there for us and provide a place of refuge.

How sad for us, and what comfort and blessings are we missing out on?

Random Acts of Kindess?

This is just an amazing post on an amazing idea. If half the people who read this decide to imitate it in some way, the world would be a better place. Do yourself a favor and take a few minutes and read it - it's worth your time. I promise!

How I Celebrated My Birthday (aka 38 Random Acts of Robyn)

(This woman celebrated her 38th birthday by doing 38 RAOKs - random acts of kindness - and also encouraged her friends and family to do an RAOK or two in honor of her birthday. Her posts tells what all she - and the rest of her family - did.)
